SUMMER EVENT IDEAS - Birds of a feather

Now that I started posting these event ideas, I thought I could just post them all. This time it's all feathers. I like incorporating feathers to a deco, they add such an airy touch (duh, yeah!) There are some more idea in this post that might go well together with these. Again, ask if there's something you want to know.

How about you, do you prefer white or colourfoul event decorations? I know I couldn't choose since I like both, but I'm still gonna ask!

Nyt kun aloitettiin kesäisillä juhlaidiksillä niin aionpa heittää tänne loputkin. Tällä kertaa höyhenteemalla mennään. Tykkään käyttää höyheniä tämäntapaisissa projekteissa, niistä tulee aina niin kevyt tunnelma (yllättäen!). Tässä postauksessa on lisää ideoita, jotka voisi sopia näiden kanssa.

Mites siellä puolella, tykkäättekö enemmän valkoisesta vai värikkäästä koristelumeiningistä? En kyllä itse osaisi valita, mutta onneksi aina voi kysyä muilta!

SUMMER EVENT IDEAS - All lavender

Sometimes new places or experiences remind you of something older. As in this case, all the lavender groving in Provence reminded me of these wedding deco ideas I worked on about 6 months ago. So here you go, grab an idea or two to organize any kind of a party! Now that the weather's still hot we should take a full profit out of it and organize as many garden parties as we can. Right? Never too many garden parties for me!

Instructions only in finnish this time, but all the ideas are pretty simple to do! Comment if questions.

PS I just got back from France today. It was an interesting trip but I'm glad to be home too!

Joskus uusi paikka muistuttaakin jostakin vanhasta. Tässä tapauksessa Provencen laventelit saivat minut muistamaan nämä laventeliteemaiset hääkoristeet, joita tein viime talven aikana Tiimarille. Joten ajattelin postata ne, jospa niistä joku saisi idean tai pari seuraaviin bileisiin! Miten olis vaikka puutarhajuhlat, nyt kun säätkin on tuollaiset? Ja kutsutte sitten mutkin, puutarhajuhlia ei ole koskaan liikaa!

Miten on, aiotteko vielä osallistua/järkätä ulkoilmajuhlia tänä kesänä? Antaa palaa!

PS Palailin juuri Ranskasta. Oli mukava reissu, mutta ihanaa olla myös takaisin kotona!

Garden party

During our trip, we visited "Domaine de Baudouvin", a beautiful small garden. I especially love the first photo with all the people, there was a big (loud) party of a Provencal association :D Anyway, any park that takes special interest in local plants and saving bees and butterflies is a good one in my opinion. I've always been interested in gardening and I've also worked in a pedagogic garden, so I like to visit gardens abroade to get new ideas.

Btw, I was wearing the same dress as in this post. I'm wearing it all the time, it's so versatile. And made in US!

Do you like gardening? How about visiting gardens and parks when abroad? Or do you prefer other attractions?  I want to know!

Käytiin tämän reissun aikana myös puutarhassa nimeltään "Domaine de Beaudouvin", joka oli kaunis pieni provencelaispuisto. Tykkäilen varsinkin tuosta ekasta kuvasta, paikalla nimittäin oli isot (ja äänekkäät) provencelaisseuran juhlat :D Puistossa oli paljon paikalliskasveja, mehiläispesiä ja perhospeltoja, mistä plussaa. Puutarhat ja kasvitarhat on aina ollut mielestäni kiinnostavia, ja olen myös työskennellyt koulukasvitarhassa. Siksi tykkään myös matkoilla käydä puistoissa ja puutarhoissa!

Muuten, päällä on taas sama mekko kuin tässä postauksessa. Se on ollut tosi monikäyttöinen, ja tehty vieläpä USAssa!

Mites te, tykkäättekö puutarhatöistä? Entä käydä visiiteillä puutarhoissa/puistoissa matkoilla? Vai kiinnostaako muut kohteet enemmän? Kertokaa mielipiteenne :)

the colours of the Sud

Some more snapshots from the Southern France. I couldn't resist taking tons of photos of these umbrellas, they sort of remind me of "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg"!

Also, this is one of the reasons why I like travelling so much. The coulours here are so particular: warm oranges and yellows, airy mints, deep blues and reds... I find it all very inspirational. Travelling always gives so much new ideas, right?

Muutama näpsäisy lisää Etelä-Ranskasta. En voinut vastustaa ottamasta noin miljoonaa kuvaa noista sateenvarjoista, mieleen tuli nimittäin Cherbourgin sateenvarjot!

Muutenkin, värit täällä on aina ihan omanlaisiaan: lämmintä keltaista ja oranssia, vaaleaa minttua, syvää sinistä ja punaista... Aivan omanlaisensa tunnelma, joka on tosi inspiroiva. Yksi syy siihen, miksi niin tykkään matkustelusta, on se että joka reissulla matkaan tarttuu uusia ideoita.

it's been very, very hot here in the Provence. But we've still managed to do some sight-seeing!

to the countryside,

to the harbours and beaches,

...but the most important is that we've been eating oh-so-well!

Book swapping at the airport

So, at the moment we're enjoying the sun of the French Riviera! I'll be posting some more photos soon, but here's one cool thing I've recently found in the airport of Helsinki-Vantaa from where we departured - a book swap station. There are others in Helsinki, of course, but this one I find especially useful. I mean, if you forgot the take a book with you to read in the plane, you might find something here. And it's a good way to pass some time while waiting for the plane. This time I found nothing, but I left a couple of books I had and didn't want to re-read.

I think I've also found my perfect travel outfit - cozy, light-weight trousers, a comfy t-shirt and a big scarf in case it's cold in the plane. And my fedora for sure, otherwise it would be all crinkled if I had to cram it to the suitcase! All are thrifted except the fedora which I had to buy since I didn't find a used I liked.

What's your favourite travel outfit? Any tips for the airports/plane travels? I'll be back with more photos soon! Vivi

Tällä hetkellä päivää paistatellaan Etelä-Ranskan lämmössä ja siitä lisää kuvia myöhemmin. Sitä ennen pieni vinkki kaikille Helsinki-Vantaan kautta matkaaville: tiesittekö että kentällä on myös kirjanvaihtopiste? Toki näitä löytyy muualtakin, mutta tämä on mielestäni ihan erityiskätevä - siellä voi viettää aikaa mukavasti konetta odotellessa ja ehkä löytää jotain luettavaa koneeseen. Tällä kertaa mukaan ei tarttunut mitään, mutta vein vaihtoon kotoa kylläkin pari opusta.

Kokeillussa yhdeksi parhaista matkustusasuista on muuten osoittautunut tämä: väljät ja kevyet pitkät housut, mukava t-paita ja iso huivi, jos koneessa on kylmä. Ja fedora, muuten sen joutuisi tunkemaan matkalaukkuun! Kaikki on kirpparilta, paitsi hattu, kun en löytänyt sopivaa käytettynä.
