365 PROJECT: MARCH

GOOD STUFF:

- That I'm still keeping up this project!

- Since the spring is here it's easier to take photos - so much more light!

- I don't know if I'm developping that much as a photographer, but at least I'm having some fun with it

GOALS:

Honestly speaking, I'm still working on last months goals. So no more goals this month!

What do you think? Anyway, I'll be back with some new projects later this week!

365 PROJECT: MAALISKUU

JOTAIN HYVÄÄ:

- Se että tämä projekti on vielä elossa!

- Kevään ja valon lisääntymisen myötä kuvaaminen on entistä helpompaa

- En tiedä olenko tämän projektin myötä varsinaisesti kehittynyt kuvaajana, mutta ainakin hauskaa on ollut!

JOTAIN OPITTAVAA:

Tosiasiat tosiasioina: viime kuun tavoitteissakin on vielä tekemistä, joten jatketaan niillä toistaiseksi!

Mitäs tykkäätte? Hei, oon just viimeistelemässä muutamia DIY-juttuja joten palataan niiden pariin myöhemmin tällä viikolla!

365 PROJECT: FEBRUARY

GOOD STUFF:
- I remembered more often to take photos during the daytime and not just before going to bed!
- I bought this book for inspiration and luckily, one of my favourite bloggers started to share her photo tips
- I continued the projects even for some days I was just plastering walls etc (not very interesting) 

GOALS:
- Take more pictures with people in them!
- Arrange photos at the end of each week. Still working on this...
- Understand the manual settings better (nowadays I shoot sometimes with manual, sometimes with auto)

So that's about it! And hey, if someone has some easy photo tips for me let me hear them, okay? :)

365-PROJEKTI: HELMIKUU

JOTAIN HYVÄÄ:
- Muistin tässä kuussa ottaa enemmän kuvia kunnon päivänvalon aikaan, enkä juuri ennen nukkumaan menoa!
- Hankin tämän kirjan inspiraatioksi, ja yksi lempibloggajistani alkoi jakaa valokuvausvinkkejään
- Jatkoin prokkista vaikka useina päivinä tasoitin seiniä tai muuta yhtä mielenkiintoista

JOTAIN OPITTAVAA:
- Lisää kuvia ihmisistä, ei esineistä!
- Kuvien järkkäily joka viikon lopuksi. Vielä on opittavaa tämän osalta...
- Opetella ymmärtämään manuaaliasetuksia paremmin (nyt otan kuvia joskus automaatilla ja joskus manuaalilla)

Siinäpä se! Ja jos teillä on hei hyviä valokuvausvinkkejä niin antaa kuulua! :)

365 Project: January

Hey guys! It's been crazy around here, all the paper work etc. that you have to do when you move to a new country... But things should be getting better now! Anyway, remember that for the new year I made a resolution to participe to the 365 project? So, here's the deal: A photo a day for the whole year of 2014, and sharing my experiences at the end of each month.

So here it goes, the first batch from January! You can go to see them all here.

1.1.2014, the new years eve/ uusi vuosi

I have to say, this project did not start well. At the beginning of the month we were moving. We thought that we had packed quite well, but when the camera started to blink a red light for the low battery, the charger was nowhere to be found. Well, it still lasted for several days which was quite amazing, but I had to take photos really quickly! Eventually it ran out and for a couple of days before finding another charger I had to take photos with my samnsung smartphono, which is not that great for taking pics. 

Then there was the case of moving. This month we've lived in the midst of luggage and cardboard boxes. Let me tell you, it's hard to take an inspirational photo of a cardboard box. We also spent a week helping my parents-in-law to renovate. This was the hardest part considering the 365 challenge since there was no way I was going to bring my camera in all that dust! 

2.1.2014 LIIKE, a shop in Helsinki / LIIKE-putiikki Helsingissä

Looking at the photos from January, I'm sligthly disappointed in myself.I had hoped to develop a bit faster, I guess. But considering all the facts mentioned above I guess I could have done worse! But yeah, I decided to fix new objectifs for getting better pics during February.

365 PROJECT: JANUARY

GOOD STUFF:
- I took my camera with me almost everywhere, which is a good habitude
- Some of these photos I definetily wouldn't have taken without the challenge, and I'm glad I did!
- Photoshopping these pics I learned a couple of new gadgets on the new ps

GOALS:
- To keep all the equippement at the same place, as not to lose a charger when you need it...
- Choose and photoshop the pics at the end of every week, and not at the end of the month. I feel this way I'll learn faster what to do and what not to do!
- Find some inspirational blogs and books to keep me going

9.1.2014 Parisian rooftops / Pariisin kattoja

Huhhuh kaverit, mikä paperisota on välillä käytävä kun asuu ulkomailla. Mutta! Nyt ollaan jo voiton puolella ja voidaan keskittyä olennaisempiin asioihin :) Kuten 365-projektiin, johon lupauduin vuoden alussa. Diilin nimi on siis se, että otan kuvan joka päivä vuoden 2014 ajan ja jaan ne täällä joka kuun lopussa.

12.1.2014 The Finnish Institute of Paris / Pariisin Suomi-Instituutti

Vuosi ei tosin alkanut hyvin tämän prokkiksen osalta. Ensin muuton seurauksena hävisi kameran laturi, minkä vuoksi kuvasin ensin pari päivää ihan tosi nopsaan säästääkseni akkua, ja kun kamera lopulta kuoli, jouduin turvautumaan kännykkään. 

Lisäksi oli tosiaan jo edellämainittu muuttotilanne. Tämä kuu ollaan eletty matkalaukkujen ja laatikoiden keskellä, ja antakaas kun kerron: ei ole helppoa ottaa superinspiroivaa kuvaa pahvilaatikoista. Lisäksi vietettiin viikko appivanhemmilla remonttihommissa, mikä oli kaikista vaikein osuus tämän haasteen suhteen. Kameraa kun ei sinne remonttipölyn keskelle viitsinyt ottaa!

14.1.2014 Parisian rooftops, again / Pariisin katot jälleen

Toden sanoakseni, en ole hirveän tyytyväinen kaikkiin tammikuun kuviin. Olin kai kuvitellut pääseväni vähän parempiin tuloksiin. Mutta toisaalta, jos ottaa huomioon kaikki yllä luetellut tilanteet niin ehkä huonomminkin olisi voinut mennä! Laadin silti itselleni muutaman tavoitteen helmikuun varalle, ettei sama pettymys toistuisi.

365-PROJEKTI: TAMMIKUU

JOTAIN HYVÄÄ:
- Raahasin kameraa mukanani melkein kaikkialle, mikä on hyvä ottaa tavaksi
- Joitain näistä kuvista en todellakaan olisi ottanut ilman haastetta, ja nyt olen kuitenkin tyytyväinen että otin ne!
- Photoshopatessa näitä opin muutaman uuden kikan uudella photarilla

JA JOTAIN OPITTAVAA:
- No ne kamerakamat vois pitää aina samassa paikassa. Ettei vaikka laturi häviä.
- Valita ja käsitellä kuvat joka viikon lopussa mieluummin kuin koko kuu kerralla. Luulen, että niin pääsen nopeammin jyvälle hommasta!
- Löytää inspiroivia blogeja ja kirjoja jatkoa varten

Hei jos haluat osallistua samaan hommaan niin ei muuta kuin kuvaamaan! Ja jos teillä on jotain hyviä blogi- tai kirjasuosituksia niin kuulisin mielellään!

New Year's resolution for 2014: the 365 project!

Hey all! Are you going to make any New Year's resolutions? I am going to do only one but it's big (at least for me): I'm going to commit myself to 365 project. It means that I'll be taking a photo a day for one whole year, starting tomorrow! 

I've been wanting to develop my photographing skills and I'd also want to learn how to capture all those little every day moments. It seems to me that all our photos are from travels or parties, even though we're both also kinda homebodies and like to spend time doing projects at home, too. I know I'm not going to change my habits unless I make it a daily task, so this is it! 

From what I've read from people who have already done this, it might get difficult along the way. So I'll need encouragement ;) And I'll post you photos at the end of each months to keep going! 

So, what about you? Do you already have a huge list of resolutions or none at all? I'd love to hear!



Hei olettekos tekemässä uudenvuodenlupauksia? Minä aion tehdä vain yhden mutta ehkä sitäkin vaativamman (ainakin itselleni): Aion osallistua 365-projektiin. Lyhyesti sanottuna aion siis ottaa kuvan joka päivä, huomisesta alkaen!

Olen halunnut oppia kuvaamaan paremmin jo jonkun aikaa, ja lisäksi tahtoisin oppia ikuistamaan kaikkia pieniä, arkipäivän hetkiä. Suurin osan meidän kuvista on nimittäin matkoilta tai juhlista, vaikka ollaankin välillä melkoisia kotihiiriä ja tykätään viettää aikaa kotonakin. Ja tunnen itseäni sen verran, että jos en tee tästä oikeasti päivittäistä tapaa, niin muutosta ei tapahdu!

Olen lueskellut muiden projektiin osallistuneiden kokemuksia ja niistä päätellen jossain vaiheessa homma saattaa käydä puuduttavaksi. Tarvitsen siis ehkä kannustusta jossain vaiheessa :) Ja porkkanana itselleni aion postata joka kuun lopussa kuvia tännekin!
