Tiedetään, en ole ollut kovin aktiivinen täällä blogin puolella - elämä on vienyt taas hetkeksi mukanaan! ECODESIGN : MINNA

Minna on suomalaisen Minna Hepburnin luotsaama ekologisia hääpukuja tarjoava merkki, ja mielestäni kaunein sellainen. Leikkaukset ovat ajattomia ja materiaalit ylellisiä - monille näistä malleista voisi kuvitella muutakin käyttöa kuin häät. Jos en tekisi pukuani itse olisin varmasti kääntynyt Minnan pukujen puoleen, mutta tosiaan ehkä vielä joskus tulee hankittua joku noista lyhyistä malleista ihan muuten vain... Mikä näistä on teidän suosikki?

Minna is an ecological wedding dress brand by the finnish designer Minna Hepburn. All her dresses are so beautiful and timeless. The cut is great and the materials luxurious - besides, many of her dresses couls be used also for other events than one's wedding. If I wasn't going to make my own dress, I surely would have chosen one of her dresses. But maybe one day I will get one of her short dresses anyway... Which one of these is your favorite?

ECODESIGN: Urban Renewal & Urban Remade

Pidemmän aikaa kirjoittelin kerran viikossa eri ekologisen muodin edelläkävijöistä. Koska aihe on lähellä sydäntäni aion edelleenkin jatkaa sarjaa mutta vähän rauhallisempaan tahtiin, lähinnä fiiliksen mukaan jos jotain kivaa sattuu löytymään, kuten nyt.

Monilla nettikaupoilla alkaa olemaan ekomuodin osastoja (Asos Green Room jne.) itseltäni on kuitenkin mennyt aivan ohi Urban Outfittersin omat merkit Urban Renewal ja Urban Remade, joita molempia löytyy myös netin puolelta! Tykkään yleisesti tyylistä ja stailaus on kohdillaan, vaikka mitään yksittäistä helmeä en olekaan toistaiseksi onnistunut itselleni bongaamaan.

So, for a long time I wrote a weekly series about ecodesign. As the subject is really close to my heart I'm going to continue but maybe not as often as it took a lot of time and energy (this year, I'm planning to do more DIYs and travels!) So I'm just going to share whenever I'll find anything nice, like these cool looks!

Many net shops carry a selection of eco clothes (Asos Greem Room etc) which is great. But I've somehow managed to miss these Urban Outfitters brands: Urban Renewal and Urban Remade. I like the clean style and the styling is great. Now I'll just have to check their selection every now and then to see if there's something so cool I can't live without!

Ecodesigner of the week: 31 bits

I've seen plenty of paper bead jewelry, and I've even made some myself. But last week I discovered a brand that makes so cool paper bead accessories I knew I had to post about it. 31 Bits produces all their products in Uganda from recycled paper. Their mission & story is pretty inspiring, I recommend reading it here!






Every purchase you make can either have a positive or negative impact on the world. 31 Bits is part of a movement revolutionizing the way people do business. We value both the creator and the consumer. The artisans in our program are receiving a sustainable income and holistic education, empowering them to rise above poverty. Our accessories are marked by fresh colors and crisp design.

Paperihelmikorut - ei mikään uusi juttu. Mutta viime viikolla bongasin niin makeita versioita, että eihän näistä voi olla bloggaamatta. 31 Bits on merkin nimi, ja kaikki nämä korut ja asusteet on tehty Ugandassa kierrätyspaperista. Merkin tarina on aika inspiroiva, sen voi käydä lukaisemassa täältä. Myös blogi on aika hyvää luettavaa, paljon DIY-vinkkejä, tarinoita merkin takaa yms. 

Mitäs tykkäätte? Omaan makuuni ainakin iskee, harmi vain ettei Ranskassa näytä olevan yhtään jälleenmyyjää. Mutta onneksi on internet ;) Ja hei, hyvää viikonalkua kaikille!

Ecodesigner of the week: Tom's

I'm sure you all already know Tom's, the famous footwear company that donates one pair of shoes to somebody in need for every purchased pair. I guess they don't need any further introduction, so here's just some of my favourites from their current collection! What's your favourite?

"In 2006, TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie befriended children in a village in Argentina and saw that they didn’t have adequate shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes for a child in need. One for One.® In 2011, the One for One model was expanded and TOMS Eyewear was launched. With every pair purchased, TOMS helps restore sight to a person in need. One for One."

And here are some faves for men...

Nowadays, Tom's makes also glasses with the same principal, and coffee, too! With every bag of coffee purchased, they supply clean water to those in need. Great, right? The founder, Blake Mycoskie, has also written a book titled Start Something That Matters. Is there anybody who has read it? I'd like to know if it's really that good!

Kaikki varmaan tuntevat jo Tom's -merkin, jonka erikoisuutena on se, että jokaista ostettua kenkäparia vastaan lahjoitetaan kengät niitä tarvitseville. Nykyään merkki myy myös laseja samalla periaatteella, ja uusimpana aluevaltauksena on kahvi! Jokaista kahvipakettia vastaan tarjotaan puhdasta vettä alueilla, joissa siitä on pulaa. Merkin perustaja, Blake Mycoskie, vaikuttaa kyllä aika inspiroivalta tyypiltä, ja onpa kaveri ehtinyt kirjoittaa kirjankin. Onko joku ehtinyt lukea? Alkoi tehdä mieli lukea tuo opus, mietin onko se yhtä hyvä kuin kehutaan :)

Tässä muuten muutamia suosikkejani tämänhetkisestä kokelmasta, mistä itse tykkäilet eniten? Ja hei, toivottavasti kaikkien viikonloppu sujui mukavasti, täällä Ranskassa se vielä jatkuu kansallispäivân merkeissä :) Nyt kutsuu juhlapäivän lounas, näkyillään!

Ecodesigner of the week: Ainokainen

Ainokainen is an independent ecodesign brand from Finland. Designer Netta Kervinen creates unique dresses and accessories out of surplus and recycled materials, all handmade in Finland. These photos are actually from their last collection (new collection is coming out soon, according to her blog!) but I couldn't resist posting them. I really like the combination of lace & modern body jewelry. What do you think?

Ainokainen on varmaan jo monille tuttu merkki, mutta en voinut vastustaa näiden kuvien postausta. Tykkään nimittäin tosi paljon tästä pitsin ja vähän rouheampien korujen yhdistelmästä! Blogin mukaan uutta kokoelmaakin on tulossa pian, joten sitä odotellessa. Ainokaisen vaatteet valmistetaan kaikki Suomessa, kierrätys- ja ylijäämämateriaaleista. Pisteet siitä!

Ecodesigner of the week: BlockBox

The last weeks I've been thinking a lot about how to make our appartment more functional. We're still renovating (update coming soon, I promise!) but we're getting to the point where we can really talk about the deco&furniture. I guess that's why this brand caught my eye, plus they have a cool intro video :)

What do you think? I know these modulable are everywhere right now, but I still like them!



Ollaan viimein päästy rempassa siihen vaiheeseen, että voi miettiä sisustusta. Ja jotain järjestystä tänne kaivataankin! Tämä merkki sattui juuri sopivasti silmään, kun säilytysjutut on ollut mielessä. Näitä muunneltavia hyllyjähän on viime vuosina näkynyt vähän kaikkialla, mutta ainakin itte tykkään edelleen. Mites te? BlockBoxin versiot on tehty pahvista, ja ainakin hauskan esittelyvideon mukaan ne onkin melko kevyitä :)

Ecodesigner of the week: From Somewhere

Seeing this post reminded me that I've yet to blog about the UK-based brand From Somewhere. Founders Orsola de Castro and Filippo Ricci are doing a great job bringing eco fashion to a new level, and their collaborations include brands such as Topshop and Speedo. Their newest collection has a nice 90's wibe (I never thought I'd say that!) but it remains true to their style. 

From Somewhere is a designer label that works primarily with pre-consumer surplus from the manufacturing houses and textile mills of the luxury fashion industry.

The label is a pioneer in combining sustainable thinking with fashion-forward design; bringing quality and craftsmanship to “exquisite rubbish.”"

Täältä sain hyvän muistutuksen siitä, etten ole vielä blogannut brittimerkistä From Somewhere. Brändin perustajat Orsola de Castro ja Filippo Ricci tekevät hienoa työtä ja tuovat mielestäni ecodesigniin ihan uutta ulottuvuutta, ja From Somewhere onkin tehnyt yhteistyötä niin Speedon kuin Topshopin kanssa. Tässä uudessa kokelmassa on jotenkin makea ysärifiilis (enpä olisi ikinä uskonut että tuonkin pääsen sanomaan!) mutta silti merkki on tyylilleen uskollinen. Mitäs te tykkäilette? Ja hei hyvää alkavaa viikkoa kaikille, toivottavasti se tuo mukanaan vain hyviä juttuja!
