Bedroom plans

Do you know Sketchup? It's a free 3D design program. We used it for planning the renovations at our place and thought that it could help us also to determinate the decoration more in detail. And it totally did. So here are our plans for the bedroom! 

In my previous post I already told you guys a bit what style we're going for. It's a decent size room (about 12 m2) but we needed it to be multifunctional. We wanted all these to fit into the room:
-a bed, obviously (140 cm wide)
-Storage for all our clothing etc
- At least one of the chairs we "herited" with the place (more on that here)
- We'll have a separate study but it will double as a guest room. So we needed a small desk also in the bedroom in case we needed to finish something urgent while having guests staying over

At first it seemed easy, but in reality it took as some time to figure out how to fit all these things into one room. As the bed was our biggest object we first determined its spot and build from there. Since we have huge windows with french balcons we can not really put any furniture in front of them, so that limits the choices. 

We played around with a couple of options but this was definitely the best one. In my mind I somehow imagined that we could maybe fit two armchairs and maybe some other furniture in here, but the 3d- model helped me to realize that we actually can't! There might still be some changes but this is mostly what it's gonna look like. We're going for white for the walls, with a dark grey accent wall maybe behind the bed. What do you think? Have you ever tried Sketchup or any other 3d- program for interior planning?

Oletteko kokeilleet joskus Sketchup-nimistä ohjelmaa? Se on ilmainen 3d-mallinnus ohjelma jonka saa helposti käyttöönsä netistä, mutta vastaavia ohjelmia löytyy toki muitakin. Me käytettiin kyseistä ohjelmaa kun suunniteltiin koko kämpän remppaa, joten aattelin että miksei siitä olisi hyötyä myös sisustussuunnittelussa. Ja kyllä muuten olikin! Joten tässä muutamia suunnitelmia makkarin sisustuksen suhteen.

Edellisessä postauksessa jaoin jo joitakin kuvia ja ideoita makuuhuoneen suhteen. Meidän makuuhuone on ihan kohtuullisen kokoinen, noin 12 neliötä. Sen pitäisi silti olla aika muunneltava ja monikäyttöinen, koska kaikkien näiden juttujen tulisi mahtua suunnitelmiin:
-Sänky, 140 cm
-Reilusti säilytystä vaatteille ja muulle
-Ainakin yksi meidän "perintötuoleista" (siitä lisää täällä)
- Pieni työpöytä, sillä vaikka meillä onkin erikseen työhuone niin se toimii myös vierashuoneena. Joten jos meillä on vieraita pidemmän aikaa niin mahdollisuus viimeistellä joku tärkeä työjuttu muualla on must!

Aluksi näiden kaikkien mahduttaminen ei vaikuttanut mitenkään ongelmalta, mutta kun alettiin piirrellä kaikkia huonekaluja 3d- malliin niin huomasikin miten paljon tilaa ne vei. Hetken sai käännellä ennen kuin kaikki sopi yhteen! Tilaa rajoittaa myös toisella seinällä ovi ja toisella isot ikkunat+ranskalainen parveke, joiden eteen ei voi oikein mitään laittaa. Jotenkin kuvittelen kaikki tilat aina mielessäni isommaksi kuin ne on, joten kyllä tämä 3d-homma auttoi hahmottamaan tilaa! Mun mielessähän tuonne ois mahtunut vielä vaikka kokonainen sohvakalusto :)

Pieniä muutoksia varmaan vielä tulee, mutta tältä se pääpiirteissään näyttäis. Seinät tulee todennäköisesti olemaan neutraalin valkoiset, ehkäpä yksi seinä tehosteeksi harmaa. Mitäs pidätte?  Ootteko muuten joskus kokeilleet näitä 3d- ohjelmia sisustussuunnittelun apuna? Kyllä mustakin vielä näiden avulla tulee ihan sisustusguru, enkä enää yritä tunkea kaikkia tavaroita samaan tilaan!

Our home story

so here it is, our place: entry on the middle, two bedrooms on the right, toilet, bathroom and kitchen on the right + a small storage!

So I already showed you guys some photos of our place but I haven't really told the full story. So here we go! We got our place back in 2011. We knew we were gonna move soon to Finland so one might ask why we wanted to buy a place in France. But there were several reasons to this: first of all, it was our long-time dream to buy an old place and renovate it, and since finding a place in Paris to rent is sometimes so difficult we kinda had to buy if we wanted to come back one day (it's crazy I know). Paris, however, is way too expensive so we knew we had to buy in the suburbs. But I really like our town so it's not that bad!

We searched for several months and saw really different places. And then we saw this one. It was definitely a fixer upper, but we saw a lot of potential.

 

Entry + Bathroom before

The thing is that the previous owners had passed away and didn't have any close relatives so we could choose either to keep all their furniture as well or have the place completely empty when we moved in. It seemed so sad just to throw everything away that we decided to keep everything. Plus we didn't have that much furniture! However, I wish we knew better. It took us so much more time to get rid of the things we did not want and just moving things around when we needed more space.

We did almost everything by ourselves so there was a lot of work. We both worked almost three months full time to get everything done before moving. And I think I already told you this last time, but we moved to Finland a day after finishing. Yeah. A day. So now we're really happy to be back after renting this place out for a couple of years!

We still see so many things here that need to get fixed. But this time we have more time and can tackle one room/object at a time which is great! I'll keep you posted and if you want to read more reno stuff just click the "renovation" tab on the right. See you soon!

Viimeksi postasin muutamia kuvia meidän kämpästä mutta tässä vähän kattavampi tarina koko kuviosta sekä muutamia lisäkuvia. Koko juttu on nimittäin hiukka monimutkainen kuten meidän tapauksessa aina, joten lisäselvitys lienee paikallaan ennen kuin mennään enemmän remppaan ja sisutukseen!

Alettiin etsiä asuntoa vuoden 2011 keväällä. Tiedettiin jo silloin että aiotaan muuttaa vielä saman vuoden puolella Suomeen joten kuulostaa ehkä hassulta että haluttiin ostaa kämppä. Siihen oli kuitenkin monia syitä: ensinnäkin meillä oli pitkäaikaisena unelmana ostaa ja rempata oma asunto, ja lisäksi vuokrakämpän löytäminen on välillä niin hankalaa että joissain tapauksissa on helpompi ostaa! Asuntojen hinnat Pariisissa on pilvissä, joten me suunnattiin etsinnät lähinnä "banlieuun", esikaupunkialueeseen. Mutta meidän kaupunki on tosi kiva joten ei mitään valittamista sen suhteen.

Etsintään kului pari kuukautta ennen kuin löydettiin tämä. Mielikuvitusta sai kyllä käyttää (ihan oikeasti, kaiken yuon kukkatapetin ja vaaleanpunaisuuden keskellä) mutta potentiaali löytyi.

Asunto oli itse asiassa edelleen täysin siinä kunnossa johon se oli edellisten asukkaiden jälkeen jäänyt. Heillä ei ollut lähisukulaisia eli ei varsinaisesti perijöitä. Niinpä me saatiin valita otetaanko asunto kalustettuna vai täysin tyhjänä. Kaiken pois heittäminen oli jotenkin surullinen ajatus (plus meillä ei ollut hirveästi kalusteita!) joten päätettiin pitää kaikki. Nyt kyllä tekisin ehkä toisin, koska tavaroiden siirtely remontin keskellä kului järjettömästi aikaa.

Me tehtiin lähes kaikki itse joten reippaan meni aikaa lähes kolme kuukautta, meiltä molemmilta täysaikaisesti. Ja kuten viimeksi taisin mainita, niin muutettiin siis Suomeen tasan päivä sen jälkeen kun saatiin kämppä valmiiksi. Sen jälkeen asunto oli vuokralla pari vuotta, ja nyt taas meidän omassa käytössä. Ja vielä on tosi monta juttua joita pitää parannella, mutta tällä kertaa onneksi väljemmällä aikataululla, joten voidaan edetä yksi huone/prokkis kerrallaan! Pidän kyllä tämän blogin ajantasalla siitä missä mennään. Mutta jos remontti/sisustusaiheet kiinnostaa niin ne löytyy kun klikkaa "renovation" tuosta oikealta. Nähdään taas!

Bedroom ideas

Remember how in the previous post I told we're going to redo our appartment (again)? Well, we've got a good start this week! Let me remind you, when we got the place, it looked like this:




Gloomy, right? We obviously got rid of the bed and all before moving in. But the wallpaper and all stayed for some time, so before we got started it looked like this:




And now, after removing the wallpaper, it looks already so much better! I mean, it's obviously not ready, but I can already imagine how it will look in white.




Now we've got several ideas for this room, but here are some photos that I find inspiring:




Ilove the mix of black & grey & yellow. And that bed frame!



We're thinking we're going mostly for white, but on the other hand I love this black bedroom! This one's from Oh Happy Day.



And of course, I can't imagine a room without my favourite colour, turquoise...

We'll see what happens here! I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, there's more photos here! But don't worry, I have also other stuff coming than reno :)

Kuten totesin viime postauksessa, täällä remontoidaan taas. Tässäpä muutamia ideoita makuuhuoneen suhteen, joka on meidän ensimmäinen kohde. Ja kuten näette, jotain edistystäkin on jo tapahtunut! Vaikka ollaankin vielä kaukana valmiista, niin kyllä tuosta saa jo paremman kuvan siitä, miltä huone näyttää valkoisilla pinnoilla. Mutta ennen sitä, täältä löytää vähän lisää inspiskuvia, jos kiinnostaa! Mutta hei, on muutakin juttua tulossa kuin remppaa, mutta jotenkin se vaan sattuu jotenkin olemaan just nyt päällimmäisenä mielessä :)

Renovations, here we come!

So we bought our current appartment in a town near Paris almost 3 years ago. Before us, the last time anybody did anything to improve it must have been in the 70s. The whole place was filled with wallpapers: walls, doors, and ceilings (!). The place definetily needed some attention. So when we got the place, we used 3 whole months to re-do almost every piece. And when we were done we got to enjoy the results for 1 day... and then we moved to Finland. 

So, needless to say that we're happy to be back home. But there's still so many things we wanted to do the first time round but didn't have time to. So now we're getting back to business. Meaning that in the months to come you guys will see several reno-related posts!

So yeah. But here are some photos to see from where we started and where we're now:

Unfortunately we don't have a lot of "before" photos, we were so into getting started we kinda skipped that part! But see those wallpapers everywhere? I almost liked the one in the kitchen, it was so crazy... In addition to these rooms we still have bedroom, but that one we haven't touched at all and that's the one we're going to attack this week-end! I'll keep you posted!

Tässäpä muutamia kuvia meidän Ranskan-asunnosta. Siitä on jo melkein kolme vuotta kun tämä kämppä ostettiin, mutta paljoa ei olla vielä itse ehditty täällä asua! Asunnossa oli selkeästi tehty remppaa viimeksi 70-luvulla kun saatiin se haltuumme, kuten näkyy noista ihanista tapeteista... Joten kolme ekaa kuukautta täällä käytettiin kyllä perusteelliseen remontointiin. Lopputuloksesta saatiinkin nauttia kokonainen yksi päivä (!) ennen kuin muutettiin Suomeen. Joten saatte uskoa, että nyt on hyvä fiilis olla taas kotona. Mutta paljon on vielä tehtävää, joten luulempa että lähiaikoina tänne ilmestyy useampia remonttijuttuja!

Näissä kuvissa ei näykään vielä makuuhuonetta, sillä sille ei toistaiseksi ole tehty mitään. Ja siihen tulee muutos tänä viikonloppuna!

Sunday sunday

Just a quick update for this Sunday... This week-end we've really tackled the goal nr.1 in my list! So, despite the whole Finland celebrating the independance day and the long weekend, we've been packing and packing. But we've got so much done and it hasn't been that bad :)

In addition to that, I think we're getting more and more excited about moving. One of the reasons is our Paris flat, that still needs some renovation & decoration. For the last couple of weeks, we've been brainstorming ideas and I've also been pinning like crazy ;) Lately I've been really into different shades of grey, like having the walls all in dark grey!

So if you're interested to see some of our inspirations, check check! And hey, what has inspired you lately?

Huh huh, nyt on ainakin kunnolla toteutettu tavoitelistan kohtaa nr. 1! Meillä on siis täyttynyt laatikko toisensa jälkeen, itsenäisyyspäivästä ja muusta huolimatta. Mutta pakkaaminen on (ainakin toistaiseksi) sujunut yllättävän kivuttomasti :)

Lisäksi aletaan molemmat ehkä innostua entistä enemmän Pariisiin muutosta. Yksi syy on Pariisinkämppämme, joka edelleen tarvitsee vähän remppaa & sisustusta. Viime viikkoina ollaan heitelty ideoita ja olen myös täydentänyt ahkerasti pinterestiäni ;) Viime aikoina olen tykännyt esimerkiksi eri harmaan sävyistä, kuten tummanharmaista seinistä!
